The owner of Ashbrie Cinemas, Nells Offerdahl, was the first to bring stadium seating multi-plexes into the western panhandle of Florida. In the spring of 2000, he was about to break ground in Gulf Breeze, FL on a new theater to be dubbed The Breeze. In an effort to merge the magic of cinema with the natural splendor of the Gulf Coast, I illustrated a sunset beach scene into a flowing strip of celluloid frames. Knowing this logo would primarily be used in backlit signage, I chose to forego many traditional rules of logo design and saturated it in color and texture. 15 years later, this logo still illuminates the front The Breeze in awesome hues of gold, violet and indigo.
